L.A. County mother charged in murder of 2-year-old son

A 28-year-old Lancaster woman accused of murdering her 2-year-old son was formally charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.

The charges follow an eight-month investigation into the death of Legend Lee, which was brought to the attention of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators by the Kern County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Details remain limited, and it is unclear what exactly occurred during the Nov. 26 incident in the 44000 block of Cedar Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, the 2-year-old died from complications of severe burn injuries.

The child’s mother, identified as Rayzhannah Greenhoward, was arrested July 9 in connection with her son’s death and is being held at the Lynwood Jail on $2 million bail.

She has been charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse resulting in death and assault on a child causing death, The Times reported.

She is scheduled to appear in court again Tuesday in Lancaster.
