SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A 4-year-old boy in metro Atlanta recently reunited with the police officers who helped save his life during a frightening incident earlier this year when a garage door fell on his neck.
The officers with the Sandy Springs Police Department were thrilled to find the boy, Maddux, “smiling, thriving and continuing his recovery.”
According to Sandy Springs PD, on April 18 their officers responded to a medical emergency call involving the boy when he “become trapped underneath a garage door that had fallen onto his neck.”
Responding officers both with Sandy Springs PD, Dunwoody PD and personnel from DeKalb County Fire Rescue assisted in the situation, both with lifesaving measures such as chest compressions and in holding up the garage door.
Through those efforts, Sandy Springs Police said, “a cardiac rhythm was restored, and Maddux was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for further treatment.”
As the child continues to recover, he recently got to see the officers who rushed to his aid.
