The FBI is asking for the public’s help solving a case related to a dead newborn found inside a porty-potty at the Electric Forest Music Festival in Rothbury, Mich. on June 28.
The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward to anyone who can help federal agents identify and arrest those responsible for leaving the infant inside the portable restroom.
The baby’s remains were found in the festival’s camping area by a porta-potty company employee performing routine maintenance during the last day of the festival, Michigan State Police said. The baby was less than a month old.
Authorities have not said how the baby died, if it was a boy or a girl, or if anyone connected to the case has been identified.
The music festival organizers responded to the tragedy on social media the day the baby’s body was discovered.
“Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this difficult news with you,” Electric Forest Music Festival posted on social media. “Michigan State Police continue to investigate this tragic event if you can assist in any way. HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well.”
Authorities have not ruled the case a homicide at this time. The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Michigan State Police at 1-855-MICHTIP, or by contacting your local FBI office.
